The introduction of low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs) has changed the image smart systems, due to their wide coverage and characteristics. This category communication technologies is perfect candidate be integrated into inverter control architectures for remote microgrid (MG) applications. LoRaWAN one leading LPWAN technologies, with some appealing features such as ease implementation possibility creating private networks. study devoted analyze evaluate aforementioned integration. Initially, characteristics different are introduced, followed by an in-depth analysis LoRa LoRaWAN. Next, role in MGs widespread elements explained. A point-by-point architecture proposed implemented grid-feeding structure inverters. experimentally evaluated terms latency externally generated power setpoint, following inverters settings. results demonstrate effectiveness architecture, while settings optimally configured. Finally, a hybrid system that can effectively residential MG management.
